Whether you’ve managed a long and relaxing Christmas or are working in an industry that doesn’t allow time off over the festive season, January is the time for looking forward and making changes and improvements.
2019 is here and it’s time for resolutions – eating and drinking less, joining a gym, learning a new skill or making other changes to improve your lives. It’s definitely a good time to take a look at your life and work out what you’d like to be different by the end of the year. Bu it’s also important to make it a realistic review. The typical diet and exercise resolutions made during a New Year’s Eve party or when recovering the next day are usually broken before the end of January and will often end up costing you more than you get back, not to mention leaving you feeling disappointed with yourself.
If there is something you want to change take the time to think about what you’d ultimately like to achieve and then how realistic that is. How long do you think it will take? What do you need to do to get there? Who can help you? If you can break it down into stages, you’ll be able to work towards smaller goals, seeing changes much faster and feeling like you’ve achieved something. Writing down your goals, along with the date you plan to reach them, can also have a positive impact. Having a plan on paper makes it much more real and especially so when you have a deadline to work towards. Don’t punish yourself though, or give up, if you slip up or miss a deadline – it’s important to be flexible in life and carrying on (and learning from) a setback will make you stronger in the long run.
What about security?
Yes this is a security blog, so as well as those personal goals and plans for 2019 I should remind you that January is a great time to do a review of your manned security needs for the year ahead. Do you have any changes planned, events or office moves … anything that might mean you need a little extra security? If so, or if you’re thinking of changing your security company, please take a look at our services and get in touch for a quote.
Happy New Year!
